About Jan Faust Dane

Food Forager Jan Faust Dane has been pursuing good food, both wild and domesticated, since she tasted her first fresh fiddlehead in her youth.   A native of Oregon, who spent her teen years almost entirely on horseback, she migrated east to New York City for a career as a writer with Hearst New Media and ABCNEWS.com. As a travel writer for the eat.shop guides, a curated series that promotes local and independent restaurants and retail shops, she became a strong booster of the farm-to-table approach.  She continues to write for Edible Rhody magazine and is a contributing editor at Rhode Island Monthly. Now, however, she spends most of her time working closely with local farms and fishermen to make sure that the Ocean House chefs are receiving the highest quality, most local and sustainable food available.
